These orchids were found near the edge of a trail in Rocky Mountain National Park, here in Colorado. All of the pictured orchids were photographed on May 26th, 2007. Although it appears that some of the orchids are past their prime, many of these plants were actually damaged by a heavy snowfall earlier in the week.

The plants were found along approximately 100 meters of trail, at an elevation of roughly 8,200 feet. Unfortunately, for the safety of these orchids, I cannot disclose the exact location of the population.
